Hong Kong jails birth tourism promoter

I covered the Hong Kong anger at birth tourism, immigration and economic incursions from the Mainland in Hong Kong residents call Mainland Chinese "locusts"; Chinese call HKers "running dogs." Now, the Hong Kong government is satisfying public mood with jail sentences for birth tourism promoters.

Hong Kong Sentences Woman for Birth Tourism
Amidst growing tensions over an influx of pregnant mainland mothers in the last few years, Hong Kong officials on February 13 sentenced a mainland woman to ten months in jail for acting as a birth tourism middleman.
The article also notes that neighboring Guangdong province supports Hong Kong's policies.
On February 4, Guangdong Provincial Population and Family Planning Commission Director Zhang Feng said the Guangdong government would support Hong Kong in its efforts to restrict birth tourism.

Zhang also said that mainland couples are in violation of China's one-child policy when they travel to Hong Kong to have their second child, and vice versa. They are subject to fines, and even removal from their posts and party membership if they are civil servants, Zhang said.

The Guangdong government has already punished families for giving birth in Hong Kong in violation of the one-child policy, Zhang said, although he did not say how many families were involved, People's Daily Net reported, citing the Hong Kong-based Wenhui Daily.
