Only 31 per cent of Hongkongers feel proud to be Chinese nationals, a 7 percentage point drop from last year, and a record low since the survey was first carried out in 1997, the year when the former British colony returned to Chinese rule.It is a global trend towards identity and community.
The number of people who are not proud of their Chinese identity, meanwhile, jumped significantly from 56 per cent to 65 per cent.
