The West is gripped by a suicidal, depressed, self-loathing people who fall for any foreign criticism. The same pattern of decline in seen in many regimes. The U.S. shares parallels with the late Qing dynasty, complete with the drug abuse, lack of confidence, and rule by invaders. Upcoming will be the Boxer rebellions (expelling of foreigners; Muslims in Europe and who knows who in the USA), followed by the political volatility, low level to full blown civil war, then religious/cultural revival. Enjoy the decline!

The rulers appear to me as hedonistic (decades up covered-up sex scandals and blackmail rings), audaciously lying, grandly larcenous, mass-murdering gangsters who’ve been trying to conquer the world and turn everything but their own family enclave into something like Detroit, Baltimore, Libya, Haiti, Palestine, etc. That’s not “foreign” criticism. It’s an objective look after stripping away the illusions. But, maybe we’re talking about different things. The rulers don’t appear to “self-loathe”. They seem to really enjoy themselves. But, they do appear to hate the rest of the world and to loathe their own citizens, whom they victimize short of dropping bombs on them.

Maybe they’re choosing coal not because they were ever “green” — beyond using that to market themselves to the public— but because they owe their allegiance to an empire that seeks to return Russia to its Yeltsin days and China to its Century of Humiliation, eras of lower life expectancies and higher profits to the people or institutions that tout “democracy” and “freedom” while proudly rigging elections in Russian and elsewhere.
