I posted a uranium stock with recent good news at the Substack. Here are other uranium charts of interest. I'm not buying here, but still hold many positions in stocks such as LEU, MGA, FUU, CUR and GLO.

URANIUM BEAR ARUGMENT: “The announcement today by the US government is just to build more enrichment capacity. Good if you're LEU. Irrelevant if you're anyone else. It basically going to all go to the centrifuge project that LEU (odl USEC) has. That was my read of it.”

According to Bloomberg, DOE officials met with key congressional staff, where they said such funding - which amounts to one tenth of what the US recently wired to the US military-industrial complex Ukraine - is urgently needed, adding that any interruption in the supply of enriched Russian uranium could cause operational disruptions at commercial nuclear reactors, the person said. US nuclear energy industry participants have also been briefed on the proposal; while the plan requires approval from Congress it is unlikely that lawmakers will refuse these relatively modest demands if the alternative is the threat of widespread blackouts and immediate political career termination. The proposal, Bloomberg continues, aims to spur development of more domestic enrichment and other steps needed to turn uranium into reactor fuel; It would also create a government buyer directly purchasing enriched uranium, including the type used in a new breed of advanced reactors now under development. The proposal is dovetails with legislation introduced earlier this year by Senator Joe Manchin, the West Virginia Democrat who serves as a key swing vote, and Senator Jim Risch, an Idaho Republican, that would authorize billions of dollars in funding to increase the country’s domestic uranium enrichment capabilities. Other congressional backers of expanding US enrichment capabilities include Senator John Barrasso, a Wyoming Republican who serves as the top GOPmember of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee. That said, even with billions in backing, it won’t be easy for the US to jump-start the domestic uranium industry. The country has only one remaining commercial enrichment facility - a New Mexico plant owned by Urenco, a British-German-Dutch consortium. While the immediate list of companies that would benefit from such a funding boost include Centrus Energy, which is building an enrichment facility in Ohio, and ConverDyn, a joint venture between Honeywell International Inc. and General Atomics that provides uranium conversion services, it is likely that the entire uranium space would move higher as the price of spot uranium will likely soar.

LEU looks like it has a nice clean test of the base. The break of support will be a fakeout if this news continues working in a bullish direction. I own it.

Most of the time, politics doesn't impact markets at the macro level. There are some major turning points that sometimes coincide with big tax increases and cuts, but these are often coincident with a bull market top and bear market bottom. For the most part, elections don't matter in the United States and Europe because of institutional inertia. The permanent bureaucracy remains no matter who wins. That is no longer the case though. The permanent bureaucracy has become incompetent to the point where one has to wonder when asset prices will realize the growing risk.

Having earlier this month banned Russian coal, a move which sent coal prices around the globe to all time highs, the European Union is now likely to adopt a similarly phased ban of Russian oil, E.U. officials and diplomats said, and for what reason: so politicians can signal their virtue (furthermore, the approach is designed to give Germany, in particular, time to arrange alternative suppliers and so will unlikely be implemented for a long, long time).

According to the NYT report, the earliest the proposed embargo will be put up for negotiation will be after the final round of the French elections, on April 24, to ensure that the impact on prices at the pump doesn’t fuel the populist candidate Marine Le Pen and hurt president Emmanuel Macron’s chances of re-election, officials said.

In other words, Europeans know very well just how unpopular such a measure will eventually be, but still they want to ram it through just because. The outcome will be a drop of millions of barrels in Russian supply, and much, much higher prices.

And just so European politicians - and everyone else for that matter - knows what is coming should a Russian oil embargo be triggered, oil, which was trading red on the day for unknown, opex-related reasons earlier, has soared and Brent was last seen well over $110, and on its way to wiping out all Biden SPR release losses.

The Europeans are intentionally slowing their economy with these measures, to the point where I believe a stealth climate agenda is at work. The Eurocrats are crippling fossil fuel infrastructure. In which case, long-term energy demand will decline as they slow their economies and permanently reduce demand. This will also crush their balance of trade, weaken the euro, and send continental inflation soaring. Their war on nuclear, on fossil fuels, on common sense...is sinking their prospects over the coming decade. If they go through with this plan, the European economy will be well and truly fracked.

China aims to have non-fossil energy consumption exceed 80% of its total mix by 2060, when the world’s second-biggest economy plans to be carbon neutral, according to guidelines published by the official Xinhua News Agency.

The measures are part of China’s larger plan for achieving peak carbon emissions and reaching net-zero by 2060, Xinhua said on Sunday. It reiterated the government’s climate goals for 2025 and 2030 and vowed to accelerate a decline in China’s coal use.

California is asking the federal government to declare an “electric reliability emergency” so the Golden State can lean more heavily on fossil fuels to avoid blackouts.

The state’s main grid operator wants the U.S. Department of Energy to suspend air-pollution rules for some natural gas-burning power plants in case their output is needed “to meet demand in the face of extremely challenging conditions including extreme heat waves, multiple fires, high winds, and various grid issues,” according to a filing. The last time California received a waiver of such length and breadth was 21 years ago during the Western Energy Crisis.

China Ban on Australian Coal Stressing Nuclear Plant

CBC: Chinese nuclear plant 'performance issue' reported by its French joint operator

The French joint operator of a Chinese nuclear plant near Hong Kong says the plant is dealing with a "performance issue" but is currently operating within safety limits, following a report of a potential radioactive leak.

The Taishan Nuclear Power Plant is jointly owned by China Guangdong Nuclear Power Group and French multinational electric utility Électricité de France, the main owner of Framatome, which helps operate the plant.

China's ban on Australian coal hit its coal plants, plus summer weather has reduced hydropower in the region. Everyone should be paying close attention here. This is what the future will look like all over the globe if politicians continue making political decisions in place of economic decisions when it comes to energy. The news clobbered uranium stocks across the board.

Largo Launches Vanadium Battery Company, Standard Uranium Hits

I have no comment on the news having only just seen it. It is good timing chartwise if the market likes it because Largo is on the verge of a technical breakout.

Standard Uranium I mentioned before. It sank with no results, but the uranium rally last week didn't leave it untouched. Now a good drill result lifted shares. It's still below my total cost basis.

At the moment, Mega Uranium, UEX and CCJ have better setups.
