Scientists and China Unleashed Coronavirus Pandemic on the World

I strongly suspect the coronavirus was bioengineered by scientists doing gain-of-function research. Anyone who tells you is isn't with certainty, especially "fact" checking sites, are liars. I do not trust scientists in the field either because everyone involved in biological research has a reason to lie, for the same reason cigarette companies lied about tobacco causing cancer. If this is true, governments around the world will shut down all of this research immediately, for an indeterminate period of time. Additionally, scientists who make the engineered claim have been attacked by other scientists. It bears all the hallmarks of the extreme politicization of science we've seen in recent years. Although national politics has creeped into science, I mean it in the much more basic sense of scientists rejecting truth for democracy. From climate change to evolution to Egyptology to coronavirus to human-like footprints in Crete, when faced with challenges to accepted scientific facts we get an appeal to consensus instead of a solid refutation of critical theories. They choose to play politics instead of face the risk that their beliefs are wrong, and the attendant career damage that could cause. In short, I doubt we will ever get the truth from mainstream science and certainly not government for a long time, if ever.

A little-noticed study was released in early July 2020 by a group of Chinese researchers in Beijing, including several affiliated with the Academy of Military Medical Science. These scientists said that they had created a new model for studying SARS-CoV-2 by creating mice with humanlike lung characteristics by using the CRISPR gene-editing technology to give the mice lung cells with the human ACE2 receptor — the cell receptor that allowed coronaviruses to so easily infect human lungs.

After consultations with experts, some U.S. officials came to believe that this Beijing lab was likely conducting coronavirus experiments on mice fitted with ACE2 receptors well before the coronavirus outbreak—research that they hadn’t disclosed and continued not to admit to. In its January 15 statement, the State Department alleged that although the Wuhan Institute of Virology disclosed some of its participation in gain-of-function research, it has not disclosed its work on RaTG13 and “has engaged in classified research, including laboratory animal experiments, on behalf of the Chinese military since at least 2017.” That, by itself, did not help to explain how SARS-CoV-2 originated. But it was clear that officials believed there was a lot of risky coronavirus research going on in Chinese labs that the rest of the world was simply not aware of.

“This was just a peek under a curtain of an entire galaxy of activity, including labs and military labs in Beijing and Wuhan playing around with coronaviruses in ACE2 mice in unsafe labs,” the senior administration official said. “It suggests we are getting a peek at a body of activity that isn’t understood in the West or even has precedent here.”

How likely is it that the Chinese used humanized mice with ACE2? What would be a sign that they did? I don't know, maybe A common North American mouse can catch and spread the coronavirus in labs, studies show
Deer mice, the most abundant mammal native to North America, can catch the coronavirus and pass it to other mice in laboratory settings, raising a remote possibility that they could become a reservoir for the pathogen in nature and transmit it to humans, according to two new studies not yet peer-reviewed.

The findings also mean that deer mice may be useful to study coronavirus vaccines, antiviral therapies and infections in the laboratory.

Experts played down the probability that deer mice are harboring the infection in nature, although Tony Schountz, an expert in bat-borne viruses at Colorado State University and a study author, said it is conceivable that a person could give the novel coronavirus to a wild mouse and begin the chain of transmission.

The mice, belonging to the genus Peromyscus, are often studied in biology fieldwork because they are so abundant. In such cases, captured animals may come in close contact with scientists.

I'm not a scientist. This information is out of my field of expertise. You should do your own research. Be skeptical of yourself as much or even more so than others because we are all prone to confirmaion bias. But I have a decent track record of spotting anomolies in the narratives, and my antennae go staight-up when I see factual information being purposefully hidden, "debunked" or denied because it conflicts with the official Narrative. In this case, the default assumption should be the virus was manmade by scientists working in a Chinese lab with shoddy safety measures, until these claims can be debunked with full transparency.

We should also demand a full investigation, as should every scientist who wants to keep working, because if one more pandemic comes out of a lab there will be calls to halt all research. There will be a "baby with the bathwater" reaction against scientists and science itself. If there is extreme negative social mood, consider that the 1970s killed nuclear power for 2 generations with mildy negtive social mood as a backdrop. Hou long could this type of research could be banned, when it has already caused a disaster that is several orders of magnitude worse than Chernobyl or Fukushima? Scientists should be at the forefront of getting to the bottom of where and how coronavirus infected the human population.
