Open Borders Killing the American Family, Driving Homelessness Higher

Housing takes years to plan for. When a government opens the borders to massive migration, it is placing extreme stress on the existing housing stock. Soaring rents, soaring home prices and soaring homelessness are a direct result of this policy. Inflation is exacerbating a problem that at its heart is being caused by the Baizuo admin's immigration policies.

From Australia. MacroBusiness: Immigration ramp-up will turn rental crisis into catastrophe

“Rental competition is tough at the moment”…

“The number of properties available for rent has fallen to historically low levels and demand to rent is up, particularly in the capital cities, with Covid-normal underway and the borders having reopened”…

“A return of migration and an imminent rebound in the international student market will continue to add to rental pressures, further shrinking the supply of available properties.”

Leith van Onselen comments,
All indicators coming from the Albanese Government suggests it will ramp-up immigration aggressively. It plans to use September’s jobs summit, which will be dominated by immigration lobbyists, as a Trojan Horse to gain ‘consensus’ for the biggest ever migrant intake.

Anybody lobbying to increase immigration needs to answer the following question: where will the hundreds of thousands of new migrants live when there is already an extreme shortage of homes for the existing resident population?

As usual, the many costs of extreme immigration are never considered by the ‘Big Australia’ lobby nor policy makers.

Australia is a microcosm of the USA. The U.S. is in worse shape because it is also allowing in terrorists, murderers, rapists, drug traffickers, sex traffickers and assorted ne'er-do-wells.

  1. If “demographics is destiny”, then imperialists, oligarchs, and their sidekicks must constantly expand their human stock. Conquering new populated lands helps. But, it’s fine if the human stock comes to them! Doesn’t matter whether it’s called “illegal”, “legal”, “H1”, “temporary”, or more unique programs like importing a defeated enemy’s mad rocket and bioterror scientists. They pause the flow only during recessions, because they don’t want the labor then anyway. If the “owners” (as Carlin referred to them) want the volume, they find a way to bring them in. … At the personal level, these owners are protected from incidental crime and come out ahead. The owners’ banks make more loans (NINJA, if necessary). The owners’ REIT’s raise rents (if necessary, subsidized indirectly by the non-subsidized renters through schemes like per-complex income brackets). The owners’ employers pay less, because the supply-demand curves now intersect at a lower price (reflected not just in reduced wages and COLA’s but in qualitative issues like reduced OTJ training). The owners’ military can more easily maintain an “economic draft” if there’s a large, desperate underclass. (Especially for morally objectionable tasks like offensive wars in far away lands against peasants, the owners might think “the more desperate the better”.). The owners’ electioneers can more easily maintain the status quo with a steady influx of people new to the system and (unfortunately like most of the “natives”, too) unwise to the electioneers’ ways. So, overall, the owners benefit from an influx high above their subjects’ preferences. …. (I’m sure you’ve thought of these items. Just felt like adding it.)
