This is a good article that helps explain the contempt many people on left and right have for the media.

I will never forget the experience of evaluating evidence, reading hundreds or thousands of pages of court records, flying across the country to watch judicial proceedings, digging through historical documents, and coming to a set of reasoned conclusions that I presented logically and with facts — only to hear that you fucking idiot, the police say that this is a serious murder investigation, who are you to doubt that?

You’ll dig, you’ll discuss, you’ll think and re-think, you’ll evaluate evidence and look for more, you’ll work to make an argument and to invite engagement with it, and you will — always — be angrily dismissed by people who repeat something they saw on the Huffington Post and never thought to question.

There is no point to caring about the things people like this say to you, or about you. Be who you are. Do your work.

When you understand than QAnon and CNN-MSNBC-ABC-NPR-CBS-NBC-NYTIMES-WAPO are equivalent organizations, that they are filled with people who retweet messages without critically examining them, then you will have understanding. The best part is the QAnon people are more trustworthy because there is some attempt at the truth, they believe there are hidden conspiracies all around. Whereas the media thinks it has the truth, that it is the truth, and is thus incapable of separating truth from lies anymore. Additionally, QAnon probably has a much higher collective IQ. Journalism schools aren't selecting for intelligence these days, they are selecting the way cult leaders select followers. They need highly functional NPCs to spread their narratives. There's almost no point to reading media anymore because eevn if you understand all this, it's a time sink if you take their words seriously. You have to do your own work to investigate. Much easier to ignore them entirely. Ignorance of media lies is bliss.
