Three Months of Consumer Deflation

Consumer inflation has fallen for three consecutive months, a cumulative total of more than 1 percent deflation. The 1.6 percent spike in February is doing the yeoman's work of keeping CPI above 1 percent.

As for the PPI:
May, industrial producer prices fell by 2.8%, a decline from last month narrowed 0.6 percentage points. Industries, oil and gas exploration, petroleum processing, coal mining and dressing, non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing, chemical raw materials and chemical products manufacturing prices fell 21.5%, respectively, 15.6%, 10.2%, 7.7% and 5.4% , the total impact of the month the producer price index fell 1.7 percentage points year on year, accounting for about 60% of the decline.
