China Plans Airport Expansion and Upgrade

By 2025, China plans to make the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta into world-class international airport groups, increasing the competitiveness of Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou airports. Ten cities will become international hubs, including Shenzhen, Chongqing, Xi'an, Urumqi, Harbin. Also add 136 airports to improve regional coverage across the nation.
